Wow! Only 18 days until Spring arrives!

My heart skipped a beat and I got excited for a split second about the thought of lovely, beautiful, happy Springtime. But then I remembered this is Colorado - seasonal rules do not apply here. I love Colorado with all my heart. But I feel cheated out of Springtime every single year.

Right now the sun is shining and it's supposed to reach the 50's today. In a week or two, we'll probably start seeing little green leaves and tiny white flower buds poking up through the softened ground. We'll all get excited, school kids will get restless in their classrooms, I'll want to take a vacation.

And then it will snow. A lot. And be very very cold for several days.

That's how this lovely state works. It teases us with thoughts of Spring for two full months (March and April) and while the rest of the country is dancing in rain showers, giggling over their newly sprung daffodils, and starting their indoor spring cleaning, we'll be here buried under snow, wishing yet again that our daffodils hadn't popped up so quickly only to be buried and bruised by the Colorado Springtime Tease!

Here are some pictures of our old neighborhood right after the blizzard of March 19, 2003:

It took Honey 4 hours to shovel the driveway. (I was unable to help him because I was still recovering from back injuries resulting from a car accident two months prior.)

Ah, sweet, glorious Spring! Why doth thou teaseth me this way!?
