I love road trips, I really do. I love to get chips and pillows and tons of reading material that will sit unread and hold my backpack in place, and hit the road. I love stopping at gas stations to pee every 30 minutes and surveying my choices in tasty beverages. I love exploring some favorite old songs on my iPod and chatting about the landscape with my Honey. But it is always delightful to return home!

Our drive to Gillette was uneventful. Six hour drive, a couple of stops and we checked into our hotel around 6:30pm. We played our string intruments a bit before grabbing some dinner and then returning to our room to watch TV and fall asleep. Honey went to the office which happened to be across the parking lot yesterday morning to do his work there. I packed up the suitcase and tried to get on the internet (the hotel's internet service SUCKED so it didn't work!). Read my book and took a nap. Waited for Honey. We finally got on the road around 1:00.

At about 4:30, I started to go stir crazy. I had been in a moving car too long and wanted out! We had to pull over about an hour from home just so I could get out, walk around and get some fresh air. I felt anxious, nervous, uneasy, and slightly sick to my stomach. Since he had just driven up there the night before, only to turn around and head home less than 24 hours later, it was beginning to feel like a 12 hour ride!!! I was losing it.

I got some air, rearranged some pillows and put on my headphones to daze in and out of a sleep/meditation. Thank you, Enya, for guiding me calmly home.

We leave next Friday for another 6 hour road trip to Durango! I am excited and relieved that we don't head back home until Monday so a few days to stay still.

There seems to be a lot of death looming around this week. It is very unsettling to me.
I wish everyone peace and love in this time of grief. And I hope that time can swiftly heal the pain.
