I think I've mentioned it before today but just a reminder, I married a Star Wars fanatic! My husband used to watch the original three Star Wars movies on VHS at least once a month while doing mundane tasks around the house (cleaning, changing sheets, etc). He's been doing so for years. When we started dating, I noticed that 'A New Hope' was permanently inside his VCR, ready to play at a moment's notice. Last Christmas Eve, he was hiding upstairs, wrapping presents and watching 'Return of the Jedi' when all of a sudden, I heard a shriek of terror spew out of the bedroom. He came running downstairs, tears welling up in his eyes, with a damaged VHS tape in his hands. "IT ATE MY STAR WARS!!!" he exclaimed between panicked sobs. Apparently, the VCR had turned against the old, worn out video tape and began to eat it alive, mid-play. The tape Honey held in his hands was torn out of the cassette and mangled beyond repair. Needless to say, the man was devistated. I assured him that he would most likely receive all three new-and-improved versions of the original movies on DVD the next morning, as it was Christmas only hours away and his entire family knows how important this phenomenon is to him. That calmed him down a bit but he was still sad about the destruction of his original VHS tape. Poor guy.

Big surprise here...his fanaticism had rubbed off on me a bit. I finally sat down and watched all three original movies after he did get them at Christmas. I had seen them all many times before (I even had my own set of them on VHS tapes) and was intrigued by the movie, stories and characters as I was growing up. But this time I watched with a closer eye, examining and analyzing the Jedi tradition, what the Dark Side really represents, and how C3PO totally reminds me of an up-tight gay friend of mine! It was fun.

And so now we are holding our breaths for the release of the third installment of the pre-quel: Episode III: Revenge of the Sith. I've seen the trailers, pictures, everything and I must admit that a tingle of anticipation shivers down my spine every time I hear Vader's deep, threatening breathing. I can't wait to see Anakin cross over to the Dark Side!!!!

This morning I saw a hilarious commercial for new dark chocolate M&M's. It involved Darth Vader and the Red and Yellow M&M's. I couldn't find the actual commercial anywhere on the web but I did find this at the M&M website.

Some other StarWars goodies to check out:
Now I shall leave you with some wise words from Yoda:

“Yes, a Jedi’s strength flows from the Force. But beware of the dark side. Anger, fear, aggression; the dark side of the Force are they. Easily they flow, quick to join you in a fight. If once you start down the dark path, forever will it dominate your destiny, consume you it will, as it did Obi-Wan’s apprentice.”
