6/20/2005 09:32:00 AM|||Garnet|||My brain is running randomly already this morning. So here goes...
We bought a camera. It took me forever to decide but the guy at Best Buy highly recommended this one so we bought it. It'll be shipped directly to us probably by the end of this week.
Back is feeling muuuuuuuch better but now I'm starting to over-do it and ignore my doctor's suggestions of continuing to take it easy and get into physical therapy. I just want to get on with my life. If I can walk, stand, move a lot, then I will. I'm tired of being confined to that damned recliner!!! I had an adjustment and hour-long massage on Friday which felt great but ended up giving me the worst migraine I've had in months. I'm due for another round of massage and adjustment tomorrow or Weds. Wish me luck!
I hope everyone had a lovely Father's Day. We had a cookout at my dad's on Saturday and that was fun. Then had a cookout at the in-laws' yesterday and that was fun, too.
I have been reading up a storm these past few weeks! I just finished one book in two days over the weekend! Here's what I've read in the past month:
The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time (This was a really good book. Unlike any I've ever read before. It kept me entertained, a few giggles and a surprise in the middle! I read for three hours in bed last night in order to finish it. I dreamed of brilliant special people all night long!)
The Namesake (Beautifully written. Some of the minute descriptions started to bore me halfway through but the story, plot and characters are intriguing. I haven't read her other book yet, but nowI intend to!)
The Art of Mending (Easy read, fine character development of the narrator but the other characters were just barely one-dimensional. I'll probably read more of her stuff before I decide if I like her or not!)
The True and Outstanding Adventures of the Hunt Sisters (This whole book is written in a series of letters from the narrator to various people: her boss, coworkers, sister, parents, brother. Heart-wrenching tale but a very good read. I would recommend reading or at least being very familiar with the story of Don Quixote before you read this book as the narrator referrences it a lot throughout and I think there are some vital parallelisms that I missed -having not read Don Quixote myself.)
Next up is The Mermaid Chair. Then I'll need to make another trip to the book store (twist my arm!) to stock up for my trip to the beach. I'm thinking of taking one whole bag of books with me! I stole borrowed some suggestions Beth received when she vacationed beach-side last month. Here's what I'm pondering over for the trip (including some of my own wishlisters):
The Bitch Posse
Harvesting the Heart
Name All the Animals: A Memoir
A Girl Becomes a Comma Like That
The Pact: A Love Story
Prep
It's obvious from all the descriptions of the aforementioned books that I like my novels with a touch of tragedy in them! I don't like mysteries or horror and I'm not in a fantasy/sci-fi reading mode at the moment (at least until The Half-Blood Prince comes out!). So, given all of that, got any other suggestions for me???|||111928330692701934|||Insert Title Here
