6/22/2005 11:10:00 AM|||Garnet|||Nevermind about the guest posting while I'm away. Thank you, Christine, for offering but I haven't been getting enough visits to my blog to warrant constant monitoring while I'm gone! It's a busy summer for everyone!
Today I am spending time in "my room." I'm going through two large file boxes full of old photographs and organizing them into categorized photo boxes. I'm throwing out a lot of photos that I don't really want to hang onto: pictures from old friends' husbands' birthday parties -whom I no longer speak to; images of random mountains, beaches and cacti from across the country; blurred, overlapped pictures of people I don't even know. I'm not sure why but it just doesn't feel right to just dump those pictures in the trash. Won't the trash men want to look at them or something? Won't they just pile up in the landfill and blow away for strangers to find and ponder at? Maybe I should shred them. Is it safe to shred Poloroids?
I'm taking a break now from this daunting task. A box with photo albums that my mom and I made for my dad and their wedding album are up next. Oh joy. So not looking forward to that. They divorced 10 years ago after 20 years of marriage...why can't I bring myself to throw their wedding album away? 'Sup with that?
I hate it when you're excited to start a new book and you crack open that new book and you start reading it, anticipating that it's just going to get better and better...any minute now it'll grab you and stop being so damned predicatble and strike your interest....but then it just doesn't. I HATE THAT!!!!! I got about 100 pages into The Mermaid Chair yesterday when I finally realized that I was bored to tears reading it, I kept predicting what was going to happen, kept thinking, "oh this is just like YaYa Sisterhood - big woop," and already thinking about what to read next. So I gave up. I tossed the book aside and went to Borders at 8:00 last night. I spent about an hour there, scouring the shelves for books to read. I came home with a stack of five books (one was free and another was 30% off!) and a new book light. I know I shouldn't buy brand new books at $14 a pop. It's such a rip off. I wish I knew of a good used book store in my area. Scratch that, I do know where two used book stores are in my area. There's just something about a brand new book that tickles my fancy. I'd go to the library but most of their most recent books are all in hard cover and I prefer paperbacks, don'tchyaknow? Bah. I started reading The Pilot's Wife last night when I got home and couldn't put it down. Now that's when you know that a book is worth reading.
And can I just say I about had a heart attack from over-excitement yesterday when Jen told me about this!!!?!??! Seriously. Must. Go. I signed up as a Warehouse member just to improve my chances of actually getting a ticket to this show. I'm not a big concert-goer since tickets seem to cost a small fortune lately but there are a few stand-out shows that I absolutely will pay any amount to see. Dave at Red Rocks is a dream come true. *swoon*
Got another adjustment and massage this afternoon. Here's hoping I don't get another ass-knocking-on migraine. Ugh.|||111946121458613772|||Nevermind - all around
