I had a lovely time in South Carolina this past week! The first few days we stayed in an ocean-front room at the Westin Resort. All 103 family members who were there for the reunion stayed in the same hotel. We spent most of our days divided between the beach, the pool and the bed.
On Wednesday we left the resort and moved into the rental home my in-laws own. It was nice and private there for the two of us. We crossed the street, walked down a planked bridge and stood on a slim shoreline to watch dolphin pods feeding just 30 yards away from us. Little bitty crabs scoured the beach as we navigated our way through them.
We spent Friday touring the historic district of Savannah. At the time I was in the middle of Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil so it was a thrill for me to see all the houses and tour the Mercer house where the majority of the story takes place. Saturday, we went to Beaufort for lunch and to see all the old, southern houses. We are suckers for charming homes!
I ate seafood at least once every single day since I stepped off the plane. I actually started getting sick of eating crab! *gasp!* But I couldn't stop!!! All in all, I ate shrimp, crab (Dungeness and Alaskan King), swordfish, flounder, scallops, oysters (which I decided I do not like!), mussles, and grouper.
I have a nice, even, sexy tan. I've still got sand in some of my clothes and about a gazillion mosquito bites! ARGH! I hate the humidity so I was really glad to get home to Colorado's dryer climate so I could BREATHE again!
We took tons of great pictures that I will share with you as soon as we get the memory stick reader thingy working!
On my trip I read 2.25 books:
Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil is an outstanding novel! Had me laughing out loud regularly! It's a true story which makes it even more appealing. I'm told it's better than the movie, which I plan to rent ASAP.
Sellevision was an easy and hilarious read. It's by Augusten Burroughs but this one's not a depressing and crazy memoir. I was laughing aloud and scaring the woman next to me on the flight home yesterday!
What We Keep - I bought this while I was out there and started reading it on the plane yesterday. About 50 pages in, I realized that I had read it before. DUHHH!!! Not reading it again!
After that experience, I decided to get a library card and save money on books. So I got my card today and checked out Little Earthquakes and Fortune's Rocks. I still need to finish The Pact (just started it) before I dive into one of these gems.

I just published this and re-read it and thought to myself, "YUUUUCK!" Clearly, I have lost some of my blogging skills. I'm sorry if I sound kind of dry and boring right now. Give me a couple days to get back in the swing of things! I'll be catching up on all your blogs shortly, too!
Stay tuned for pictures...|||112120034829447855|||Jiggity Jig
