I've had a particularly lovely weekend! I was feeling sort of blue on Friday and my Honey brought home these flowers to cheer me up (irises...my favorite!):

He played a little banjo despite Merlyn's reluctance to share the chair with him:

Saturday was Honey's Super Secret Surprise Day and we set out at 8AM for bagels and coffee. Then headed up to the mountains. He took me to Blackhawk for some gambling! Blackhawk and Central City are two new gambling towns in Colorado. They're actually both very old mining towns but they've been restored and updated and filled with huge casinos. It's certainly no Vegas by any stretch of the imagination! But it sure is fun. We've been talking about going up there for a couple years but we just never have done it. Until yesterday!

We used our leftover vacation money and pissed it away on a variety of video poker and bar games! A woman nearby won the $1050 progressive jackpot on a machine. We congratulated her and smiled, then walked away rather sulkily, feeling full of jealousy. Bah. We had a nice lunch anyway and then headed back to Denver. Here are some pictures I took on the way up there (they wouldn't let me take pictures in the casino. Go figure!):

On our way home we stopped at a local gourmet market and bought a variety of delicately prepared foods for a Wine and Cheese Night at home. We grilled up my lemon-dill salmon filet and Honey's chicken breast, ate some brie and havarti on toasted sourdough and drank three carefully-selected bottles of Riesling and Sauvingon Blanc. We played the 90's edition of Trivial Pursuit (I won!) and then watched American Pie and American Pie 2 while enjoying our deserts also from the gourmet market (canoli for me, margarita tart for Honey). It was such a delightful splurge for us! I highly recommend it to anyone!

Oh, and while we're at the business of looking at pictures, I forgot to show you the pendant Honey got me whlie we were in Hilton Head:

Today, we're finally getting a break in the 100+ degree weather around here! The high is only supposed to be 85. Unfortunately, this means it's cool enough for Honey to mow the lawn mid-day.

I hope everyone is having an enjoyable weekend! Catch ya on the flip side!
