Thursday Thirteen

1. Yesterday, I got my two permanent crowns put on two bottom molars. The pain coming off the novacaine was unbearable and I slept a whopping 3 hours last night.
2. I woke up with a cold this morning, courtesy of my boss and 24 sick kids at work. In proper thank-you-very-much-for-this-illness fashion, I called in sick today.
3. I also have a, well, um…a feminine itchiness issue. Probably as a result of taking the Amoxicillin I didn’t even need in the first place. Lovely. As if sore teeth and a stuffy head weren’t enough to tolerate!
4. I’m not bitter.
5. I’m doing a speech next week in my Speech class about three things about me. The three things are: my Early Childhood Director’s Certificate, my cherished garnet pendant, and a Chihuahua Beanie Baby to represent my Dobby which I cannot bring to school. I am actually looking forward to giving my first official speech. I am not looking forward to having to watch it over again after my instructor videotapes it.
6. No, I will not share the video of the aforementioned speech with you! ![]()
7. Dobby has been scratching his eye so much in the past three weeks that he’s developed a nasty sore that will not heal on his eyelid. This evening, Honey is taking him to the vet to get either a cream or a satellite to help him heal.
8. If he gets a satellite around his neck then I hereby vow to sing my own version of Dave Matthew’s song, Satellite, probably beginning something like: “Satellite…’round my dog’s head…no more scratching the eye in your head”
9. I think I woke up with a Percoset hangover this morning. I hate narcotics with a passion.
10. I desperately want to learn how to knit. I wish my beloved Grandma were still alive to teach me. She’s the one who taught me to cross stitch when I was like 10. She taught me how to knit, too, but I’ve forgotten everything except that you need two fat needles. I think I’ll just break down and buy a Teach Yourself How To Knit In Ten Minutes or Less type of book.
11. I spent all day Sunday on the back of Honey’s bike as we rode up to Loveland for a humongo motorcycle rally. I have never in my life seen so many motorcycles in one parking lot. It was literally a shining lot of polished chrome as far as the eye could see. We got some great t-shirts and other such biker paraphernalia. It’s our new thing, motorcycles. Last year it was bluegrass music. This year it’s motorcycles. Next year, I am holding out for our new thing to be a baby!
12. There are at least 2 other Wiccans in my Speech class. This amazes me. Of all the boring core general ed classes I’ve taken at two different community colleges, I’ve never actually seen anyone else “of my people.” Or at least, no one bold enough to wear a pentacle necklace or just flat out ask me if I’m Wiccan. I’m loving it. It’s nice to not feel so alone as a solitary (isn’t that ironic!).
13. The book I’m currently reading is really good! I can’t wait to go to bed at night now just so I can read more!!! So far, I highly recommend it!
