What to Post…What Indeed?
I typed up an exciting post this morning, only to hit the Publish button and find out that my internet connection bit the bullet. Long story short, it’s back up now but my long-ish post is long gone. Bah.
Since I don’t want to retype everything I had, I’ve thought of a way to summarize it, as well as a few more things to talk about:
1. I found the book TwoSirius recommended to me here and I FREAKING LOVE IT!!!! This is so much more than a book about how to get pregnant quick. It’s more about learning the subtleties of your reproductive system. Since the fifth grade, I knew that I got my period every month but I never knew all the other stuff my body was doing in between periods. Now I am learning and loving it! I am sooooo done with the pill. I also bought the software to help me track stuff. If you want to know more about the Fertility Awareness Method, check out this book. It’s well worth it!
2. I saw learned about Drinking Liberally on Evil Mommy’s web site. It looks intriguing. I’m usually on the fence about many hot ballot issues but it might be fun to go and listen to the discussions sometime.
3. Who knew knitting could be considered “fine art”!?! Check this woman’s works out and you’ll understand why!
4. I ordered a book for Honey from a seller on Ebay. It was priced at $1.83. What a deal! I couldn’t pass that up! So I clicked on “buy it now” and as I was paying, quickly discovered that they charge around $8 for shipping. No longer a deal. I was pissed but on an online shopping high and I couldn’t stop now so I agreed to pay it. A few days later, I got an email from the seller saying, “woops, we actually don’t have that in stock, even though the ebay listing says we have 15 available.” Grrrrrrrrrrrr. I asked them to cancel my order immediately. I found the same book from another seller whom I promptly emailed and asked to guarantee that they have it in stock. They do and I did buy it from them instead. Saved $2 in the long run. Go me.
5. On my way home from work yesterday, I encountered three women and a beautiful golden retriever standing in the road. The dog’s paws looked bright red and bloody so I parked my car and got out to help. The dog was still standing and appeared fine but her paws were very bloody, creating small puddles in the street and she had her leash attached to her collar. We guided her to the safety of the sidewalk on the corner and two of the three women had to leave. I offered water to the dog but she wasn’t interested. She just wanted to go home but we couldn’t bear to let her wander on her own with those bloody paws. The remaining woman happened to know the dog as a neighbor’s near her so she got on her cell phone, trying to track her down. Eventually, the owner came trodding up the hill. The story was that she had walked her dog to Whole Foods (near our neighborhood but across a very busy main street - about 1.5 miles away). She tied the dog’s leash to a metal chair so that she (the owner) could go in and do some quick shopping. As she was tying the leash, though, the chair slid across the concrete and scared the crap out of the dog. The dog bolted. She ran across the parking lot, across the main busy street a couple of times…all the while, dragging the metal chair behind her. Poor thing. Eventually, the leash came loose of the chair and she retreated into the myriad of houses in the neighborhood. Mom and a clerk from the store starting trying to track her down. The ladies I had found her with had just seen the dog crossing the park without an owner behind her. Turns out, she was on a direct course towards her home. Not sure how she cut up her paws but it looked like the pads of her feet were raw and cut up. We got her wrapped in a blanket and drove her and her owner home.
I always stop for loose dogs and even though this dog had three ladies already trying to help her, I absolutely had to stop. I think I was a dog in a past life.
I’ve always wanted a golden retriever and I’ve known I want a female and I want to name her Daisy. Guess what this golden’s name was? Yep. Daisy. Good thing I stopped.
Alright, I think that was all I had to share with you. If I think of anything more, I’ll save it for another day.
Happy Weekend, everyone!
