Made it home with no problem yesterday. Although it was hard to leave the 80 degree temps to enter temps in the teens and, now, a few inches of snow. Brrrr.
Glad to get back to our little pack of wild animals! The dogs were at Dad’s all week, having fun running on his land and chasing his cats inside. Our cats were also glad to see us. Even Brudder cuddled with me in bed all night long (which, if you know Brudder, is quite unusual for him!). Unfortunately, our snail GaryToo died while we were gone but we’re not surprised since GaryOne died the last time we left town without him. Stupid snails!
Returning home mostly feels good but it also means returning to stressors. Things to do, places to go, people to call. The good news is, the medication I’m now on takes the pain away without making me a zombie so I can actually get things done. The bad news is, I still don’t think I should drive while on this medication. I don’t feel loopy but if, by chance, I were to get pulled over, I think I might get some kind of DUI. After I finish this post, I’ll be making calls to some friends and family who have offered to help me out and see if they can’t give me rides to and from my appointments this week.
We’re seeing Dr. Kane this morning at University of Colorado. She initially wanted me to see her surgeon before I come back to her again but I don’t intend to waste any time listening to another doctor tell me the same thing I’ve been hearing for two weeks: it’s in a bad place and can’t be removed by surgery at this time. In fact, if anyone were to contradict Dr. Wizard’s and Dr. Kortz’s aformentioned assessment, I wouldn’t trust him as far as I could throw him. I want to start treatment NOW. ASAP. Today I intend to reschedule some kind of IV port installation and see if Kane will administer the treatment that Dr. Wizard suggested in Houston. We shall see.
I’ll post more this afternoon after the appointment and such.
