Port is in. It’s under the skin so it’s not out flopping around grossing me out like I thought it would. That’s good. It was a smooth procedure (thank goodness for conscious sedation!) and we made it home through the snowstorm without a problem. I’ve been napping on the couch all afternoon, trying to sleep off the medications they gave me. Now the lidacane on the suture site has worn off, too, and I’m all bruised and throbbing. It’ll heal and be much better soon enough.
I don’t know when I’m starting chemo. We’ve run into some poor customer service skills at the University hospital and have yet to get a straight story from anyone. We’re taking the weekend off from worrying and fretting about it and we’ll figure out a new plan of attack by Monday morning. I anticipate I’ll start chemo sometime next week - though not certain when just yet.
I got the coolest surprise today! My precious mother-in-law and sister came over while we were at the hospital. When we came home, we found our Christmas tree fully decorated, the mantle decorated with a gorgeous garland, new fat candy cane candles, a lovely Christmas clock, our stockings hung, and an inviting tray of fancy hot cocoa mix, some mini marshmallows and two adorable holiday mugs. The house had been straightened, vacuumed and decluttered, too! IT’S INCREDIBLE! I am very blessed to have such a wonderfully loving and caring family who would do this for me and Pete (even though I accidentally locked them out in the snow storm this morning! Sorry Lindsay and Carolyn!!!).
I’ll try to take pictures and show you in the coming days. Have a good weekend everyone!
