Things are much better since Friday! The Metamucil pills are doing their jobs and I am much happier camper. Although, I have been having some more liver pains, similar to how it felt when all of this started back in September but I think it may be my body anticipating that fabulous monthly blessing of being a Woman. Hoo-ray.

Saturday, I discovered a great web site! It’s called I’m Too Young for This and it’s designed for young adults (18-39 yrs old) with cancer. It’s full of online and local resources, local support groups and more. I signed up immediately and they listed my blog on their list of young adult cancer bloggers. Also, I got an Evite for a meet-n-greet happy hour at Cool River Cafe on my birthday (February 1). I’m supposed to get CAKE (not the Birthday kind, unfortunately!) that day but I’m going to try to postpone it till the following Monday so I can enjoy my birthday weekend in top condition. Also, they are partnered with the Stupid Cancer Show podcast, which is free via iTunes, which I’ve already downloaded, subscribed and listened to. How cool is all that?!

My friend Kat who taught me to knit last year is going to teach me to crochet this week! We just went to String, a fancy yarn boutique in town and I invested in some super soft natural fiber yarns! I’m going to make a thin, lacy scarf and then work on a bunch of chemo caps to donate to UCH where I get my CAKE. Word round the campfire is that crocheting is faster than knitting and therefore easier and therefore more conducive with my short attention span of late.
On that crafty note, Honey got me one of those pull-a-page-off desk calendars that’s a different cross stitch pattern a day! There are some cute and quick patterns in there, again, that fit well with the aforementioned attention span problem.

After two long trips to Whole Foods and King Soopers, our kitchen is now stocked with great foods that I can handle right now! Just now, for lunch, I made up this recipe and it is YUMMY! Feel free to steal and try it yourself:
1 banana, sliced into chunks
1 small sized container of organic strawberry yogurt
1 cup organic soy milk
2 scoops of whey protein powder
1 container fresh organic blackberries
1/4 cup crushed ice
a few spoonfuls of natural, no calorie sweetener (I used 6 packets of Zsweet)
Blend banana slices and soy milk for about 30 seconds. Add blackberries and blend some more for another 30 seconds. Add yogurt and blend some more. Add the protein powder and sweetener then…guess what…that’s right, BLEND SOME MORE! I’ve never had much success blending stuff for smoothies but I discovered it’s because I used to just dump everything in at the same time and hit the GO button. Then I’d sit and wonder why everything got chunked and locked up in the blender, not blended at all! DUH. This time I added bits and pieces at a time which made it all nice and smooth…a SMOOTHie! Horray! Try it. It’s great!

Low Top Converse are my new addiction. In the past two weeks, I have purchased 5 new pairs, some on sale, some delivered via my personal shopper from the Chuck outlet store in Kansas City (thanks, Sister!), and a couple regular priced. Booootiful! I’m a wee bit out of control but I love them all! Honey, don’t worry, I promise to stop buying them for a while to give our bank account a little breather!
But in case anyone was wondering, I wear a Women’s size 9/ Men’s size 7 — you know, if you happen to be out and about and see any of these adorable kicks and want to get me something nice for my birthday! Hahahahahah!

Honey took some pictures of me with my pink hair over the weekend so I’ll upload them for you to see in the next day or two.
